Having developed core standards that contribute to statewide efforts to promote the sustainability of Virginia's clean water, clean air, abundant wildlife, mountains, streams and beaches, The Jefferson has been certified as a Virginia Green hotel by the Department of Environmental Quality. Virginia Green is the statewide program that works to reduce the environmental impacts of Virginia's Tourism Industry. It is run as a partnership between DEQ, the Virginia Tourism Corporation and the Virginia Hospitality and Tourism Association.
